Our April meeting will feature Brad Fitzpatrick, the founder of the blogging site LiveJournal. After LiveJournal was acquired in 2005, Brad joined the ranks of Google. Brad has started a number of open-source projects that are widely used among web 2.0 websites, including memcached , perlbal, and most-recently, OpenID. The meeting is free and open to all, and will be held in the CIS-X auditorium (map here) at noon, on Monday, April 14th. Pizza and drinks will be served. |

Our February meeting will feature Trevor Blackwell , the founder and CEO of Anybots , a startup that's developed a human-like walking robot (see the videos on their website). He is also a partner at YCombinator , a seed-stage incubator for startups. Trevor has a doctoral degree in computer science from Harvard University. The audio recording from the talk is here . |

Our next meeting will be featuring John Whaley, Founder of Moka5, on Tuesday, November 13th at 6:45 PM in Gates, room 104. "John received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, where he made key contributions to the field of program analysis, compilers and virtual machines. He is the winner of numerous paper awards and graduate fellowships, and has worked at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and IBM Tokyo Research Lab. He has over 25 years of programming experience and was one of the top 15 programmers in the USA Computing Olympiad. John holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Computer Science from MIT, and can speak fluent Japanese." His website is here. The audio from the talk is here. |
